General Questions

Where do we meet for our booked adventure?

Please meet at our Adventure Centre for check-in prior to all tours and activities. Our location is Naval Stores, Kangaroo Point Cliffs Drive, Kangaroo Point.

Can I bring my phone or camera on river adventures?

Unless your electronics are both waterproof and float – it is not suggested!

What happens if I want to cancel or reschedule my adventure?

Bookings can be rescheduled for a fee of $8.50 per person providing at least 48 hours notice is given. If between 24-48 hours notice has been given, this fee will increase to 20% of the activity’s cost per person. If less than 24 hours notice has been given, there will be no opportunity to reschedule the booking. Riverlife policy states no refunds given.

What happens in the event of bad weather?

Itineraries may vary or be substituted for any reason including seasonal conditions, weather extremities, natural disasters, etc. Adventures cancelled by Riverlife due to bad weather will be rescheduled without any charge.

Do I need to reconfirm my booking?

No. Once you’ve paid for your booking, you can relax and leave the rest up to us!

Can I pay on the day?

No. We require payment in advance to confirm your booking. We accept payment via all major credit cards, EFTPOS and cash at the counter.

How far in advance do I need to book?

General Sessions require a minimum of 48 hours in advance to book. However, we do recommend booking as early as possible, as availability can fill up quickly. But if you’re a last minute Larry – you can always give us a call and if there’s room we can book you on!

 

Are there disabled facilities at Riverlife?

Are there EFTPOS facilities at Riverlife?

Yes, we accept EFTPOS and all major credit cards. However, please note that there is no ATM at Riverlife and we do not offer cash-out.

 

Does Riverlife provide sunscreen?

Yes. Riverlife strongly advocates for sun safety and provides complimentary sunscreen to all guests.

 

Are there shower facilities?

Yes. Riverlife offers complimentary shower facilities for all guests.

 

Are there locker facilities available at Riverlife for guests?

Yes. Locker facilities are available to hire.

Is all equipment provided for the adventures?

Yes! We provide all the necessary equipment and safety wear for our adventures.

What is the minimum number of participants for a private session?

We can happily run Private Sessions to suit any group size! Our Private Booking Team can happily help with any enquiries, so please email your enquiry to groupbookings@riverlife.com.au, where one of our team members can happily be of assistance.

I have never Rock Climbed, Abseiled or Kayaked before?

No experience is required – Our qualified team will hook you up with the gear and skills that you’ll need for every Riverlife adventure.All adventures start with acomprehensive briefing where you will learn how to do the activity safely and can ask questions.

What is the minimum and maximum number of participants for the General Sessions?

General Sessions have no minimum numbers. Maximum numbers vary for each activity:

Rock Climbing – 24 participants

Abseiling – 36 participants

Kayaking – 100 participants

Segway Obstacle Course – 6 participants

Segway Tour – 12 participants

Do you provide the highest levels of safety when guiding and operating equipment?

Yes. Your safety is our main concern. We operate to stringent policies and procedures. Our guides are fully trained and highly professional. All equipment is regularly checked, stored and maintained to the highest standards.

What is the minimum age for participation in the adventure activities?

For all of our daytime adventures (except Segway Tours), participants must be aged 8 years or above. Nighttime adventures and Segway Tours require a minimum age of 12.

How do you get to Riverlife?

We recommend travelling via Public Transport or Car, although we do not have onsite parking available. Thornton St Ferry Terminal is our closest ferry service stop, which services a number of Brisbane’s major ferry terminals, including South Bank, North Quay and Eagle St Pier. In terms of parking, we recommend parking at the top of the Kangaroo Point Cliffs, on River Terrace.

If i do not pay for locker, where can i keep the bag?

We do have space within our Adventure Centre for bags to be stored without locker hire. However, please keep in mind that these items cannot be protected from Theft or Damage without locker hire, so any items left are at the risk of the item owner.

Are there any other fees?

The only other fees are optional (i.e. insurance, locker hire, water, etc.)

How do I use my redballoon vouchers?

Red Balloon vouchers must be redeemed through Red Balloon, so please book in for a Riverlife experience via their platform.

My discount codes aren't working?

Can I go on an adventure if I don't speak English very well?

Yes, we can happily cater for international guests! We recommend that anyone with lower levels of English Competency book guided experiences prior to any hire activity.

Do you offer tours in any other languages?

No, we do not offer tours in any language outside of English.

Do I need to book in advance?

As our Tours are subject to availability, recommend booking at least 24 hours in advance. We can take last-minute bookings, but please confirm these with our Adventure Centre by contacting us as soon as possible on 07 3891 5766.

Is it possible to get a tax receipt for my booking?

Do you have food available for dinner at Riverlife for the general public?

Yes, we can happily cater for dietary requirements. Please indicate these at time of booking or contact our Adventure Centre to advise. Please note that our team must be notified of dietary requirements no later than 24 hours in advance to ensure that we can provide the correct food.

I'm organising a 10 year high school reunion, can you help?

How do I qualify for the student discount?

Student discounts apply to anyone under the age of 18 or undertaking tertiary study. Please have your relevant Proof of Age or Student Cards available when arriving at Riverlife.

What are your opening and closing times?

Our Opening & Closing times vary dependant on the day. Mon-Thu we are open 9am – 5pm. Friday we are open 9am – 10pm. Saturday we are open 8:30am – 10:00pm. Sunday we are open 8:30am – 5:00pm.

Do you have a policy if it's storming or raining?

We will endeavour to carry on with any booking to ensure that all guests are able to have the opportunity to enjoy their adventure! Riverlife operates kayaking adventures in all weather conditions except during electrical storms and hail storms. All other adventures may be cancelled during periods of heavy rain or adverse weather conditions. On the rare occasion Riverlife needs to cancel a scheduled adventure, a new booking will be made or a voucher issued at no cost. All bookings are non-refundable.

What if I can't swim?

Swimming ability is not required. All water adventures require a life jacket, which Riverlife will supply.

Do adults need to accompany children on adventures?

As long as children meet our minimum age requirement of 8 years old, they are welcome to participate in any instructed activity without adult supervision, as they will be in the company of our fully-qualified guides. However, we recommend having adults available for Rock Climbing, as only those above the age of 13 can belay for this activity and having extra adults to belay will make the session all the more enjoyable.

Kayaking

What time of year does the Sunset Paddle and Drinks run?

Our Sunset Paddle, Dips & Drinks experience runs throughout the year, with the start-time varying seasonally. Please check your booking carefully to monitor the time at which the tour will begin.

Does Riverlife have tandem kayaks?

No. Riverlife only has single-rider kayaks.

What should I wear for kayaking Brisbane?

We recommend wearing comfortable clothes or swimming attire. You may also wish to bring a spare change of clothes to change into afterwards.

What is the weight limit for kayaking Brisbane?

The kayaks can carry up to 147kgs.

What is the minimum age to hire a kayak?

8 years old is the minimum age for any of our Equipment Hire, however, an indemnity form must be completed by a parent or legal guardian. We would also not recommend anyone under the age of 16 hiring equipment without the presence of an adult.

Do you offer kayaking to first-timers?

Absolutely! Our instructors are greatly experienced and can assist kayakers of any skill level

Rock Climbing

Are shoes provided for rock climbing?

No. Enclosed shoes must be brought to the Session to participate.

Is there an age limit for the outdoor rock climbing?

The minimum age for our morning rock climb is 8 and the minimum age for our evening rock climb is 12.

How long are the climbing sessions?

Our public rock climb sessions run for approximately 2 hours.

How many people can rock climb at once?

One rope setup for each group of two people. 16 people maximum per rock climbing session.

Abseiling

Are shoes provided for abseiling?

No. Enclosed shoes must be brought to the Session to participate.

What do I need to wear for abseiling?

Please wear comfortable clothes and closed in shoes. A water bottle is recommended. Sunscreen is provided.

How many people can abseil at once?

If your group has 12 people or less, there will be 1 instructor and 1 line to abseil. More than 12 people, a second instructor and 2nd rope is added.

Segwaying

What are the weight restrictions for segwaying?

For safety reasons, participants must be between 45kg – 117kg.

Where do you go on segway tours?

Depending on the length or your tour, we have a range of route options. Our 30-minute Tour journeys to the parklands under the iconic Story Bridge, great for photo opportunities! Our 45 minute tour journeys through South Bank and our 60 minute Tour continues through to the Botanical Gardens.

What is the age minimum for segway tours?

Children between 8 and 11 can do the segway obstacle course. Anyone 12 and above can do a segway tour. Participants must be between 45kg-117kg to participate in any segway activity.

How long does a segway tour last?

30, 45 or 60 minutes

Hires

Does Riverlife have tandem bicycles?

No. Riverlife only has individual bikes.

What size of bikes do you have?

Our bikes are predominantly designed for teenagers and adults, however, we do have some smaller bikes and scooters for younger participants. Please keep in mind that hire equipment is subject to availability, so please contact us directly to confirm what si currently available!

Do you hire kids bikes?

Yes we do, but numbers are limited so please call to check availability

Do you provide bike helmets?

Yes. Bike helmets are provided.

Adventures & Dining

What ages is the Saturday night paddle and BBQ good for?

Our minimum age for Night Activities is 12 years old. Anyone under 12 is more than welcome to join the BBQ afterwards, but unfortunately would be too young for the Night Kayak Tour.

Do you have vegetarian options?

Yes. We offer vegetarian, vegan, and gluten-free options.

Group Bookings

Do you give group discounts?

For our Public Adventure Bookings, we do have two Group Discounts available. For any group larger than 4 particiapants, or any Family of 4, we can happily provide a Group Discount. This rate is reflected in the booking process for each activity. If you would like to book a Private Group, please email our Group Bookings Team for more information at groupbookings@riverlife.com.au.

What is the max size for birthday parties?

Our Birthday Party Packages can be tailored to best suit your needs! A minimum of 8 people is required, and our maximum would generally be 48 participants, however this can depend on your activity. Please contact our Group Bookings Office for more information via email: groupbooking@riverlife.com.au

What is included with venue hires for birthday parties?

Please note that Adventure-based Birthday Party Packages do not include venue hire, though we will provide you with a space to enjoy any supplied catering on the day. If you are looking at booking a venue specifically, please contact our Functions Team via email: functionsteam@riverlife.com.au

Is there a minimum age for birthday parties?

8 years old is our minimum age for activities. If younger children wish to join for food/drinks options only, they are more than welcome!

Can we bring a cake and other foods?

Yes, you are more than welcome to BYO any food or soft drinks. We do also have catering & drinks options though, so please feel free to ask us about these when booking!

Gift Certificates

How do I redeem my gift certificate?
