Brisbane’s Best International Women’s Day Events

March 5, 2021

International Women’s Day is just around the corner and this is the perfect opportunity to show the wonderful women in your life how much they mean to you!

Celebrated globally, International Women’s Day is renowned for recognising the power, autonomy, and contribution of women and aimed at empowering and liberating women from all walks of life. On International Women’s Day we recognise the struggle women have faced, celebrate how far they have come and create awareness about ongoing issues such as gender inequality and bias.

This year Australia has launched their #choosetochallenge initiative to commemorate International Women’s Day. This great initiative is aimed at celebrating all women, in all their diversities and embracing their facets and intersections of faith, race, ethnicity, gender or sexual identity, or disability. The Australian government is inviting all women to challenge and call out gender bias and inequality, seek out and celebrate women’s achievements and help create an inclusive world.

If you are looking for the best ways to #choosetochallenge this International Women’s Day, here are our top 5 things to do in Brisbane this International Women’s Day.

Riverlife’s third action packed experience is the exclusive abseil and apérol adventure. This incredible abseiling experience will see you defying gravity and repelling down the iconic Kangaroo Point Cliffs from over 20 meters high! Exhilarating, nerve racking and exciting, this experience is guaranteed to get your heart racing and challenge you like never before.

As you get ready to make your descent, remember to enjoy the stunning river and cities views from the top of the cliffs! And, if you need more convincing to step over the edge, take pleasure in the fact that delicious, chef-inspired canapes and a crisp glass of apérol await at the bottom.

4. Northshore Harbour Brunch

International Women’s Day is all about encouraging conversation and awareness about ongoing issues such as gender inequality and bias. It is through discussion that we can understand and support one another and unite in shared experience.

Whilst small talk and gossip comes easy to most, it is often hard to open up and talk about the challenges and lived experience women face in the workplace. This year #choosetochallenge by inviting your best girlfriends to a wholesome brunch to discussing the significance and importance of gender inequality and bias in the workplace and share your experiences.

Northshore Harbour café is a great brunch location. Located right along Brisbane River shores and offering an exquisite food menu, weekly blackboard specials and the finest barista made coffee, this is the perfect place for you and your gal pals to spend the morning. We know that nothing says comfort quite like avo on toast and a mug of warm, fresh coffee. So, relax knowing that Northshore is a safe environment to talk and the highly skilled café and kitchen staff will look after all your dining desires.

5. Orange Digital Wine & Cheese Event

This International Women’s Day Orange Digital is inviting the wonderful women of Brisbane to share a drink and come to listen to the inspiring journeys of two extremely inspiring women. These incredible speakers will take the stage and open up about their personal experiences and how they are ‘choosing to challenge’ and break down barriers within their respective industries and daily lives.

There’s something really powerful about shared experience. Often opening up about our own difficulties and challenges allows others to do the same. People might be sceptical about their ability to change however if they’re surrounded by a community of supportive, encouraging women anything is possible. This inspirational event is a great way to encourage conversation and build a community of empowered, strong women.

So, what are you waiting for? Gather your friends, colleagues, and favourite females and share an evening of inspiration, education, and incredible conversation over some wine and nibbles.
