Yes, kayaking on the Brisbane River is completely suitable for beginners, children, and families! No prior paddling experience is needed, as every tour begins with a full safety briefing and demonstration from qualified instructors. The river’s gentle waters make it a fun, safe, and easy activity for paddlers of all ages and confidence levels. Book here.

The best time of day to kayak on the Brisbane River depends entirely on the kind of experience you are looking for:

• Late Afternoon & Twilight: This is widely considered the prime time to paddle. Joining a twilight tour on Friday or Saturday evenings lets you watch the sunset over the Brisbane CBD and glide under illuminated inner-city bridges as the skyline lights up.

• Daytime: Heading out during the day is ideal if you want to soak up the sunshine, enjoy bright blue skies, and take in clear views of iconic landmarks like the Story Bridge and Kangaroo Point Cliffs.

Yes! We offer sunset or twilight kayak tours right here on the Brisbane River at Riverlife. There is nothing quite like watching the city skyline light up as dusk falls while gliding along the calm waters of the Kangaroo Point Reach.

Our evening paddles are guided by experienced instructors and include all required kayak and safety equipment.

Yes, bike hire is available directly along the Brisbane River, and no prior riding experience or special skill is required! Bikes can be collected directly from the Riverlife Adventure Centre, located along the riverfront at the base of the Kangaroo Point Cliffs. From there, you have direct access to over 100 kilometres of dedicated, flat, and paved inner-city bikeways.

Please note there is a 10% surcharge on all tours, hires, food & beverage purchases on Sundays except group bookings.

No, there is no on-site parking at Riverlife, however the best street parking can be found here.

Riverlife operates kayaking adventures in all weather conditions except during electrical storms and hail storms. All other adventures may be cancelled during periods of heavy rain or adverse weather conditions. On the rare occasion Riverlife needs to cancel a scheduled adventure, a new booking will be made or a voucher issued at no cost.

All bookings are non-refundable.

Riverlife operates with a Zero Tolerance Drugs & Alcohol policy for all activities. Because of this, if found to be in breach of this policy, you can not participate in the adventure. Should you arrive intoxicated, there are no option for rescheduling or refunds. However, if you are looking to have a drink afterwards, we have alcoholic beverages available.
