WHY BRISBANE WINTER IS A WIN-WIN WEDDING DATE

Brisbane is blessed with a ‘warm’ winter! Before you call me mad – really think about how many times over the last Brisbane 2019 Winter that you actually had to wear more than a jacket and jeans to be warm? For me – twice at best. How lucky are we? None of that 10-layers-needed, chapped lip, cold-in-your-bones kind of winter – ugh, no thanks.

When it comes to Brisbane Winter Weddings – you get the best of everything, I swear! Here are my top 4 reasons you should consider June, July and August for your I Do!

1. THE MEN WEAR FULL SUITS! SWOON.

A quick-fire way to class up your wedding is to have the formal or black-tie dress code – meaning suits! But, how many times have you gone to a wedding and its sooo hot that all the men take off their jackets and ties and roll up their sleeves, and then suddenly the wedding looks like it’s at the party time of the night… but its 2pm! And who can blame them – I’d hate to have my shirt stuck to my skin with sweat …. mmmm juicy. In Brisbane Winter all the groomsmen and the party men can wear a suit and be
comfortable – no more layers needed – and you can have that class wedding you want! AND, let’s be honest, you’ll be helping that single girlfriend out!

2. SPECIALS, SPECIALS, SPECIALS

Most Wedding vendors will have a ‘Winter Wedding special’ to entice you to choose these months! And I say, why not save where you can! Weddings can be so expensive… we all know that – once you get the venue of your dreams, the photographer you like, the fun celebrant you bonded with, and all the other must haves… the bill does get higher. BUT, if all your vendors offer a winter special, that is such a saving!! Just ask the question – it’s an easy win!

YOUR CLUTCH IS YOUR EMERGENCY BRIDAL KIT

Bobby pins, mints, tissues, deodorant… anything you can think of that she might need in the last minute before she walks down the aisle or in between photos should be stashed in your clutch. Pre-empt her needs and whip those essentials out at the slightest necessity. The Pharmacy travel section is a goldmine for this stuff!

‘A HAPPY BRIDESMAID MAKES A HAPPY BRIDE’

No matter what happens, your catchline for the day is ‘everything is going to be perfect.’ Life can throw all sorts of things at the bride on her wedding day, things that are out of her control and that just escalate any pre-existing nerves. Make the best of the situation and pep talk the hell out of your girl. Storm clouds won’t stop him from saying ‘I do.’

MAKE SURE SHE EATS

Brides are extremely busy on their wedding day with things like having their hair and makeup done perfectly, sticking to photographer timelines and spending time with each and every one of the guests. You need to make sure your bride has sustenance to get through the day. Keep some of her favourite snacks on hand and make sure the canapes are circled
around her way.

The overarching responsibility of a bridesmaid is to support your bride in every way necessary; always aim to make her smile a little brighter. Don’t ever forget why you’re there and what you are celebrating. You’re making memories; be everyone’s squad goals while you do it!
